Another Canyon

This is the day before moving. We had one more thing that we wanted to do before we moved on so we did it. While on the train to and from the Grand Canyon on Tuesday almost everyone told us that we just "had to see" Sedona and the Oak Creek Canyon. All they said was that it was a wonderful drive. So we thought we would go to see it and then continue on the same road to make a loop to get back to the Park.

What we saw was wonderful. It had it's own magnificence. Another canyon but so different. Another time that you stop takin pictures and just drink in what you saw. Route 89A was a ride down the mountain through the canyon. It was a steep mountain so the road was actually a switch-back. No vehicle greater than 50-ft long was permitted on the road. That leaves tractor trailers out at 53-ft long but I wondered about the bus and a 5th wheel RV that was attempting it. We decided not to make the loop but to go back up the mountain and see the canyon from the opposite direction.

On the way up we got to stop at a "scenic view" that we missed on the way down. It was also a place where the Native Americans were selling their crafts. But the views were extraordinary. At one point we could see the road below and watch the vehicles on three or four of the switchbacks. And you could see further in the canyon. This is one drive I would recommend to anyone in the area. And Tom and I believe it was recommended by my orthopaedist. Too bad I don't have to go back to see him so I could tell him that we did see it. ;o)

When we arrived at Williams we did some shopping at the train depot and at the local food store in preparation for our trip tomorrow. Then we came back to the trailer. It was still there!

Well, of course, it was still there. We jokingly talked about it that way today because it was so windy here today. And we had a wind gust advisory. When we "crashed" we could feel the trailer move. It was like "Rock a Bye Baby." The wind is still howling tonight but not like this afternoon.

I think it is supposed to be not quite as windy tomorrow for our trip but the wind gust advisory is still in effect. We will be traveling westward again to Needles, CA. We are going here just so we can say that we were in California and that we can try for geocaches in CA and Nevada.  We will also be going down in elevation so we may leave the wind behind. But we will be taking on greater temperatures; like somewhere in the mid-90s! I'm glad this new park has a pool. Time to dig out the sunscreen!
