Greetings From Lander, Wyoming - Monday, June 13, 2011

We got up at 5:45am so that we could get an early start. HA! We still didn't leave until 8:28! The ETA for the supposed 5 1/2 hours drive was 1:49pm not counting rest stops and fuel stops. We registered at 1:41pm!

No we didn't cross a time zone. Tom was able to shave some time off the ETA and we did stop once for gas, twice for rest stops and once for road construction.

There were many opportunies for picture taking today so Tom downloaded about 260 images off the camera. Some were taken inside a moving vehicle so the odds that they are good are just about nil. But I just kept snapping pictures. Hope springs eternal! There were pictures of the scenery, huge letters on the sides of mountains at various places as we drove, an accident that happened at a place that I was taking pictures, flooding of farm lands, a wind farm with many "propellars" (I'm not sure of the proper term) going at different speeds, many antelope in Wyoming, fences that we guessed were snow fences and then we saw snow near them so we were sure they were and snow that we could have touched if there was a place to stop the van with trailer and we could have gotten out,

The RV Park is called TWin Pines. It was not where Tom was expecting it be so we passed it. He had to drive 5 more miles before he could turn around with the trailer and go back.

We were told that 2 weeks ago they had ten inches of snow on the ground which disappeared in three days. We were also told by the Park hostess that she was told that yesterday the day-time temperature at Yellowstone National Park was 32 degrees and that they had snow.

This is a very nice small RV Park with only 20 sites. Some of the sites seem to be occupied somewhat permanently. There is one here from New Jersey.

Although the trek to the bathroom is a bit long the facility makes it worth while. The women's room is large and divided into different areas. In a large private room is a tub/shower and a chair on which to sit. The open area has one vanity set on the counter top that is set on the wall rather high. In another large, private area has the toilet. All of this is very clean. This is a good place.

We went into Lander this afternoon to do some geocaching. It is a lovely small town. The residents might object to the word "small" but I didn't see a lot of it. The first cache was in the outskirts of a new residential area. Really nice houses. Some of the residents were out walking and, I guess, wondering what we were doing in the bushes. The other two were in about the same section of town. One was in a small community park and the other was in a nearby alley. Now we have Wyoming logged for geocaching.

As we started to go to Lander we noticed that there seemed to be a "duel" going on between the white and dark clouds. There seemed to be some misting going on between them. Because we had just been talking with the Park hostess about the time she met a tornado up "close and personal" at a place near here I was beginning to wonder if this was not at least the beginning of a tornado.

We came back to the trailer for dinner. Then Tom went out again to fuel up the van for tomorrow's trip and I got started on the blog.

It is 9:30pm here and it just got dark. The outside temperature is already 59 degrees. Out come the jackets for the trip to the bathrooms. The inside temperature is 71 degrees. We all lucky. On this trip it has already been in the mid 60s inside the trailer. But it won't be long until we are in our very warm sleeping bags getting ready for tomorrow's trip.
